Assessment, physical therapy diagnosis, therapy goals, planning, interventions, and success monitoring are the steps in the physical therapy process. First, the physical therapist listens to the patient's medical history, then examines the patient with specific tests. The medical history and the examination make up the assessment of findings.

Based on the results of the examination, the physical therapy diagnosis is made. Together with the patient, treatment goals are set and the treatment is planned.

Treatment is carried out according to the principles of evidence based practice (EBP). Parallel to the implementation of the treatment techniques, patients are individually informed and counseled. During the treatment the progress is checked and at the end it is evaluated whether the goals have been reached. All steps in the physiotherapy process are documented in writing.
