FisioJoke (Locarno)

I was born in the Netherlands, where I lived most of my youth. After graduating from high school, I obtained my physiotherapy degree in 1988 and worked for a year and a half in two rehabilitation centers and a private practice. After graduating from physical therapy I continued to train in manual therapy according to Maitland, neurological rehabilitation according to Bobath, and several other post-diploma physical therapy trainings. At the end of 1989 I moved to Brissago, where I worked for 2 years in the Hildebrand Clinic and then continued my work experience at the Locarno Regional Hospital (La Carità) for almost 15 years. During these years my three children were born to whom I devoted myself completely in their early years. At the new opening in 2005 of the Andrea Cristoforo nursing home in Ascona, I decided to undertake a new professional experience and work there part-time as a physiotherapist and craniosacral therapist until July 2016. Since then I have continued my work as a therapist in the Casa San Francesco studio. During my last years at the hospital, I began training in craniosacral therapy. Working in the Andrea Cristoforo Anthroposophical Nursing Home, I discovered its usefulness and compatibility with anthroposophical therapy, and so I continued training in craniosacral therapy until I graduated at the end of 2015. Meanwhile, I had also undertaken a three-year training in prenatal and birth therapy, concluding it in February 2015. I still continue to attend advanced training courses in the different fields of physical therapy, craniosacral therapy and prenatal and birth therapy. In my therapies I try to integrate my different knowledge and skills in order to be able to find together with the patient a satisfactory answer to the question that is asked. I really enjoy my work and perform it with passion and enthusiasm. Working in the St. Francis practice facilitates the interdisciplinary care of people in which I believe so much. I am recognized by health insurance companies.
