Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a paramedical discipline that involves treating the human body using natural agents. Its aim is to restore the quality and completeness of body movements hampered by pain, stiffness, paralysis and other organic disorders. Physiotherapy has been officially recognized as a paramedical profession in Switzerland since 1966. It is both the heir to ancient techniques and the beneficiary of the most recent scientific advances: massage and other soft-tissue mobilizations, medical gymnastics, joint mobilizations, water, heat and cold, therapeutic currents and waves, light radiation and other physical agents, etc. Physiotherapy cares for, supports, accompanies and advises healthy, sick, injured and disabled people. It prevents illness and accidents. The aims of physiotherapy are to relieve and/or eliminate pain, reduce and/or eliminate functional disorders in order to achieve rapid reintegration into everyday life, and acquire replacement functions in the event of irreversible disorders.
